Day #092 – Drawing of a Young Gandhi

Finally watched Richard Atenborough’s 1982 Gandhi biopic today with my girlfriend. It was a really good film and very interesting to me because I really didn’t know many of the details of his life other than a few vague bits and pieces absorbed through osmosis. I’ve actually owned a copy of Non-Violent Resistance for a while now but haven’t got around to reading it. I’m not sure if watching the film will make me more likely to get around to it because he’s such an interesting guy or less likely cause my lazy-brain will tell me “Oh, you already know what Gandhi’s about, you don’t need too read that.”

Either way, for today’s drawing I decided to do the man himself. Went with a picture of Gandhi when he was young to mix it up a bit.

I’m quite happy with the picture. Not a great likeness to the source (or Gandhi himself) but I think it looks decent enough, quite happy with shading and hair.
