Day #355 – Al Swearengen Drawing

Tried a charcoal drawing with only the darkest charcoal and white for the highlights on toned paper. Did it fast so it’s not good but kind of fun to do anyway. Might try this again with more patience sometime.

Day #344 – Drawing of Tom Hiddleston’s Eyes

Tried to spend a bit more time with the detail of anatomy in this one so I focused on just the eyes and nose. Picked a reference photo of Tom Hiddleston to work from.

Quite happy with it overall.

Day #322 – Jack Kerouac Drawing

Drawing of Jack Kerouac in charcoal. I think this looks decent although there are major parts of it which I don’t like.

Day #301 – Charcoal Drawing of Mannequin

Combined the drawings of the last two days: Repeating the object from two days ago with the medium of yesterday. CHARCOAL MANNEQUIN!
Don’t think it looks that great. I find it hard to control the charcoal on the edges of the forms which makes it look scrappy and amateur.

Day #300 – Maia Sleeping in Charcoal

The final major milestone of my challenge has been reached! THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAA!!!!

Did another Maia drawing. This time I used charcoal on off white paper and finished it with white pastel highlights. I think it turned out fairly well although the proportions are definitely not perfect.

65 days to go… this has easily been the fastest year of my life so far. Scary.

Day #253 – Life Drawing Session #8

Life drawing Tuesdays. The first 45 minutes was helmed by the guy who runs the event and the second 45 minutes was modeled by a lady pregnant late into her 8th month. This was  a particularly cool opportunity to draw a life-model you would never normally get the chance to examine. Drawings ranged from 2minutes to 10 minutes and I’m fairly pleased with what I achieved given the time constraints.
